The Humanist Library

At the heart of the old town, Sélestat treasures an absolute gem: the exceptional Humanist Library, one of the rare collections in Europe to remains intact and one of the oldest libraries in Alsace. In the glass cases, you can contemplate 450 manuscripts, the oldest being a Merovingian lectionary dating back to the 7th century, 550 illuminated incunabula, and 2000 prints from the 16th century.
